Coorg or Kodagu: is a district in Karnataka and Madikeri is the district headquarters. At an altitude of 1525 meters on Western Ghats, it is also known as the Scotland of India. Coorg is the most famous hill station in Karnataka. According to Puranas, Kodava is the redefined name of Krodhadesa meaning Land of Anger, said to have been inhabited by the Kodava tribe. Some historians believe that it is named after the River Cauvery. Coorg was under the Gangas rule during 9th and 10th centuries and Cholas in the 11th century followed by Hoysalas. Later Coorg was relatively independent under Haleri Rajas until British occupied the region in 1834. Coorg was a separate state before its merger with Karnataka in the year 1956.
Coorg is the largest producer of Coffee in India. Also, it is one of the places with highest rainfall in India. The Kodagu district comprises different communities like Kodava, Tulu, Gowda and Moplah out of which the largest is the Kodava community, both economically and politically. The economy depends on agriculture, coffee plantations, forestry and tourism.

Evening visit Raja Seat- is an enchanting picnic spot with a swathing in the natures lap. A visitor to this spot is sure to enjoy the marvelous sight of Sun set and gorgeous valley and mountain ranges. Musical fountain has been attracting a large number of visitors to the garden.

The island is accessible through a hanging rope bridge. Lunch at Kushalnagar and later visit Bylakuppe - largest Tibetan settlement in South India. Hassan: Found by the chieftain Channa Krishnappa Naik in the 11th century, Hassan city is the headquarters of the Hassan district in Karnataka. Named after the local deity Hassanamba, this district is the architectural capital of Karnataka. The rich culture of the Hoysalas can be seen all over the district. The Hoysala dynasty ruled from Dwara Samudra the capital city then, between the 11th and 14th century. The ruins can still be found in and around Halebid in the Hassan district. Though the rulers of this dynasty belonged to the Jain faith, temples for Lord Shiva can be seen spread over the entire region. Well known for its historical values, Hassan now is city which has grown in leaps and bounds.
Today if you Start your Journey from Msyore then on the way, make a stopover at Sravanbelagola and visit the 17.7mtr high monolithic statue of first Jain sage Gommateshwara Bahubali and the various Frescoes. Gokarna is a place in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka that is a pilgrimage center and also a tourist spot because of its beautiful beaches. It is located at the confluence of two rivers Aganashini and Gangavali, and the place where the rivers converge forms a shape that\\\'s similar to the ear of a cow, hence the name, Gokarna (Gokarna in the local language literally means cow\\\'s ear). The Mahabaleshwara Shiva Temple in Gokarna makes this place a holy center for Hindus (especially Shaivites) from all over the country. The temple finds mention in the compositions of Tamil poets Appar and Sambandar who praise the Lord of Tulu Nadu in their hymns. This place was under the rule of the Kadambas, the Vijayanagara kings and was later conquered by the Portuguese.

With its narrow streets, traditional houses and temples, the nondescript town of Gokarna has become the favourite haunt of Hindu pilgrims, Sanskrit scholars and beach buffs. Om beach, one of Gokarna\\\'s five famed beaches, takes the shape of an \\\'Om,\\\' a spiritual symbol. The other beaches, wedged between gigantic cliffs that protrude like delicate fingers into the sea, are Gokarna, Kudle, Half Moon, and Paradise.

After Breakfast Visit Anshi National Park. Considered to be one of the most endangered parks in the country, it a treat for bird watchers with over 200 species of birds.
The first thing that hits you about the thick forest is the chill. Since it is very high up on the lists of places to visit, the forest does not have well marked out walking trails and you need to be very careful when exploring this natural habitat. Keep aside at least 2 hours if you want to walk around and admire the rare sightings of birds or revel in the melody of the constant chirps.

Udupi : district was formed in 1997. It was separated from Dakshina Kannada district to form a new district. Udupi district is located in the coastal region of Western Ghats about 60 km from Mangalore. Udupi is a popular pilgrimage centre and tourist spot. Udupi is famous for the Lord Krishna temple located here. Udupi is also world famous for its world class cuisine. Udupi\\\\\\\'s contribution to World is \\\\\\\'Masala Dosa\\\\\\\'.
